It’s January 10, 2026. I am sitting in a booth in the amenities lounge in a friend’s apartment. There is a golf simulator in the room and we just finished a round at Spyglass.
What happens when things don’t go exactly as planned? And when it is your first, big idea? I was on a call with an awesome C-suite at a company I used to intern for – thought the plan and strategic partnership I had in mind was going to be a big fit for them. Not quite. Basically, it wasn’t 2021 anymore, and these guys had gotten so big, I wasn’t even in the same plane as them. Missed the mark by a few years.
Love them though, so happy for them that they are achieving all of this success. And it goes a long way to know that I had enough love in that organization that they wanted to meet and offer me an office tour and some appies later. Forever grateful for people like that. It’s aspirational for where I want to go.
This upcoming week will be formative. Better decision-making from real, tangible data. Not projections or fantasies – just genuine, real-time feedback and reception to my business ideas, offerings, and future plans. Discovery and feeler meetings with ideal customer profiles, and lead generation for actual scope of work. Getting my foot in the door. Letting them know I am here.
Fingers crossed they go well. Exceedingly well. So well that I can’t even believe how easy it feels. Isn’t that the point of alignment? When internal, external, spiritual, physical, and emotional are aligned – things feel easy?
Some small moments and wins. Reminders to do the little things right. Ingrained and instinctual. Without having to think about it. Mental shortcuts, cultivating your movement through the world as smooth, free, and fun.
With some time to think about it, the disappointment I had felt at my first meeting (expectations vs. reality), wasn’t actually disappointment. It was in the sense that the world wasn’t offered up on a silver platter. But how often does that really happen? It was a signal that the door I am to walk through is down into the mud. Where the real work is. The work where you scrap and work hard for small wins and feel a sense of pride and exhilaration after.
Something real and true. Starting small, keeping the high hopes and big dreams in mind. Putting in the work, slowly building the momentum. One little step at a time. Onwards, upwards, through. As long as you don’t give up, you won’t fail.
Looking forward to failing, growing, learning, winning, celebrating, consolidating, setting in, steering clear, and all of the ups and downs that will come along this. Stability would be great, consistency would be great, but if I can feel this content (backpain, tiredness, and struggle included), then we’ve gotten where we need to go.
Bye for now.
